Harold Lloyd Rumsey was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, on July 8, 1924. Harold passed away on March 10, 2009 in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, California. Harold was approaching his 85th birthday. One of Harold's best friends and who kept an eye on Harold was Doug Simko.

Harold's Father:
George Washington RUMSEY and Effie Ophelia Gertrude MORGAN.
Harold's father, George W. Rumsey was born 26 October 1883 in Sylacauga, Alabama. George Rumsey passed away on 28 September 1941 in Alabama when Harold was only 17 years of age.

Harold's Mother:
Effie MORGAN, was born 28 March 1891 in Shelby County, Alabama. Effie passed away on 28 January 1963.

Harold helped support his mother after his father died in 1941.

USMC in WWII
In brief, Harold's military service was performed in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, specifically in ordinance maintenance for the aircraft aboard aircraft carriers in the Pacific Ocean. I believe that Harold rose to the rank of Corporal before he was discharged in about 1946.

Harold retired a few years ago from the United States Postal Service after 20 years service.

1st career after Marines - Cotton Mill in Sand Springs, Oklahoma
His mother worked in the cotton mill also after he went off into the Marines.

Plumber in the union - Everyone was prejudiced toward anyone new, meaning Harold.

Sense of Humor?
I asked Harold recently, "How many girl friends have you had in all these years Harold?"

Harold answered: "How many girls are in Arkansas?", He then said, "Oh, about 12 girl friends."

As late as about either 1995 or 1996 Harold was riding his dune buggy in the southern California deserts.
